Simple Interior Design Tips

A modern home owner today enjoys a lot of freedom when it comes to how they design the interiors of their homes. The philosophy of design is very much in-sync with a postmodern world view where rules and regulations are thrown out the window in favor of an almost anything-goes approach. But beware: even in chaos you will find order.
Before you begin ask yourself two questions:
1. What do I want to improve?
2. What is my interior design budget?
Your interior design options can range from small to large and from inexpensive to very expensive.
You may be able to solve the problem of your lounge room with a splash of colorful pillows and a strategically hung mirror or you may need something more drastic like a complete change of wall color with a feature wall to boot.
The important thing is to be able to pinpoint exactly what is not working for you now. Is it really the color of your walls? Or would a framed poster and showcase light fighting do the trick? Is it really your drab furniture? Or would a brightly colored throw rug and pillows make the dramatic change you are looking for?
Bridging Loan Basics

A Bridging Loan is a short-term loan used as a way to provide funding for the purchase of a new property while the borrower awaits the sale of an existing property. Unless all the stars are in perfect alignment, it’s tricky to coordinate the sale of one property and the purchase of another property in such a way that the transactions occur simultaneously.
A Bridging Loan or "Bridging Finance" as it is also commonly known, makes such transactions possible. They keep the borrower from getting stuck in a rough financial corner, which typically means being forced to pay two mortgages at the same time. Bridging Loans can be used either for commercial or personal reasons.
Short term in nature, the application process for a Bridging Loan is similar to that of a standard loan. Most importantly, it’s advisable to work with a lender that is experienced with this type of loan. Plus, as the need for a Bridging Loan often arises with little advance notice, being pre-approved for such a loan is a smart move.

Tip 1: Understanding antiques
In strict antique-speak, an antique is any collectable item that is seventy to one-hundred years old. Newer items can also be quite valuable; if you know how to pick them. In all instances, a collectible item has value if someone, somewhere, wants to buy it. Just remember: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
You may already know what you want to start collecting, but finding your antique niche means doing the relevant research first. For every item–furniture, clothing, books, or other odd collectibles–there is a general code of understanding as to their value in dollars. In order to be a successful antique collector you need to learn about the era in which you item was made, and what this means about its value.
Tip 2: Understanding the antique market
Whether you are interested in building a collection of Victorian furniture or vintage baby clothing one of the best places to start is the Internet. Use the search engine of your choice to begin researching your antique niche from the comfort of your own home.

My wife is an expert on Scotland. She writes about it for a living. Although born in the south east of England, she is a Robertson through and through and has returned to her roots, bringing me along with her. I’m very grateful!
And, I’m not the only willing settler in this great country. The Scotsman newspaper recently reported that immigrants ‘accounted for 68 per cent of population growth in Scotland between 1991 and 2001′. At the time of the 2001 census, 168,142 people living in Scotland had been born abroad. This figure, of course, does not include people like me who were born in another part of the UK.
Of those born abroad, Americans, Pakistanis and even Spaniards comprise a significant proportion of recent immigrants, many of them highly skilled. 37 per cent of those moving here hold a higher level qualification and the number falling into the ‘high earner’ bracket is almost twice the UK average, says the report.
“Can you explain this?” I asked my wife.
“Easy,” she said, “it’s just a great place to live!”

Roses may be beautiful but Tulips are magnificent. The huge colorful blooms we associate with Holland make stunning bouquets.
Did you know that Tulips did NOT originate from Holland? Actually, most species of wild tulips came from central asia and western asia. Tulips that originated in Europe were mainly from the Mediterranean.
How much would YOU pay for a tulip bulb? Did you know way back in 1635, a single tulip bulb could fetch the equivalent of $35,000 in present day money. No other flower ever generated such an insane following. But why?
Part of it is due to the beauty of the flower and the rarity of the tulip back in those days. It became a status symbol. People wanted to outdo one another with tulips. So the demand for tulips went sky high. The insanity that came next can be compared to the insanity in the stock market prior to stock market crashes. Investors would then buy tulips at ridiculous to sell at even crazier prices. Needless to say, when the inevitable crash came, fortunes were lost.

What do the terms grafting and budding mean?
Budding is a form of grafting. Grafting is the art of attaching a piece of one plant to another plant, creating a new plant. Grafting is usually done because the desired plant is extremely difficult if not impossible to propagate through other means. Dogwoods, for example, are easily grown from seed, however, it is next to impossible to grow a Pink Dogwood from seed. The seeds from a Pink Dogwood will produce seedlings that are likely to flower white.
The most common method for producing Pink Dogwood trees is to remove a single bud from a Pink Dogwood tree and slip it under the bark of a White Dogwood seedling. This process is known as budding, and the seedling is known as the rootstock. This is usually done during the late summer months when the bark of the White Dogwood seedling can be easily separated from the tree, and the seedling is about 1/4” in diameter.
