Gearing Up for Bad Credit Mortgages
October 31, 2007
Mortgage would have never happened, had mortgages been a no profit venture for the mortgagees or the mortgage providers. The lender receives much more than he had actually lent. And you feared that you would not qualify for the mortgages having a bad credit history. Mortgagees somehow find ways to match borrowers with the offers available with them in order to have your business.
Bad credit mortgages are mortgages offered to people whose credit history has been adversely tainted. Sub-prime lenders make a special provision for people with an adverse credit history. But, it is crucial to escape lenders who pose as sub-prime lenders, but are actually overcharging them. There is a misconception in the minds of people that having a bad credit lessens their chances of getting a mortgage. In fact they take the offer as if it is the best that they can get.
We cannot expect the mortgage providers to not differentiate between those with a good credit history and those who have not. This however does not mean that the borrower must accept all terms on the mortgage without questioning their validity. There are many mortgage providers in the UK and the case will match some or other lender if a proper and exhaustive search is made. There are a few tips which could be used to reduce the intensity of the differentiation.
Kitchen Island Sizes
October 31, 2007
Kitchen island sizes vary considerably from moveable cutting and serving tables to installed free-standing cabinets with a full complement of storage and workspace options.
Nearly 80% of all home buyers consider a kitchen island essential, according to one survey, but knowing which kitchen islands sizes are best is another matter.
Interior designers point to the gravitational pull of a kitchen island, to how it becomes the focus of design and activity in the kitchen, but accomplishing that in your own kitchen involves some careful planning.
Put Wheels On Your Plans
Large kitchen islands serve to separate open-space rooms commonly found in home design today, and they help direct traffic flow, convert eating and cooking areas to multi-use areas between meals, keep the cook and guests together-but-apart, as well as complement other design ideas.
Large islands are especially useful in kitchens with large floor plans or odd-shaped dimensions or in open-space eating areas in apartments and condominiums.
Existing kitchens with little space, or that have floor plans and traffic patterns that limit the work area, benefit greatly by having a small island in the kitchen.

Concrete Curb Landscaping
by: Steve Joseph
The concrete curbing industry is currently experiencing a period of high growth as home owners look for new ways to customize and personalize their homes without over capitalizing their investment.
For the last ten years or more, many people have been able to take advantage of steady growth in the housing and property market, which has enabled more people than ever to become home owners. This growth in the housing market has been driven by a range of factors, one of them being the baby boomer generation, who have gained access to large amounts of superannuation, which has in-turn has stimulated the property market. Most economists would now agree that property and housing sector is due for a period of reduced growth, although other businesses are set to thrive in these conditions. The concrete curbing and edging business is one of these businesses. For more visit http://www.concrete4curbs.com/
Ten Considerations Before You Buy A Bird House
October 31, 2007
When you decide to buy one bird house or more — be aware that there are many designs being sold that are unsuitable for the birds. These houses may not attract any birds or the types of birds you wish, or they may actually be harmful. Many are very cute and look like little decorated houses. There is nothing wrong with these, but they are usually more appropriate as indoor decoration than as good safe homes for wild birds. Below is a checklist of the ten most important features of a good working bird house. Before you put a house out for wild birds, be sure it has these ten features. If it is decorative and still has these features, then it is fine to put it out.
The Ten Things:
1. No Perch
Tree holes in the wild have no perches, so the birds that use nest boxes do not need them. They can be a disadvantage in that they may attract House Sparrows, an invasive species that often takes over nests from our native hole-nesting birds.
2. Diameter Of Entrance Hole

Show Off Those Curtain Rods
by: Ciara McNamara
Curtain rods come in as many different styles and materials as fabric curtains. They can make or break the appearance of your window depending on how you hang them and how they are finished off. Knowing what you can do with the curtain rod will give you some decorating ideas you may not have thought of before.
Anatomy of a Curtain Rod
To start the curtain rod consists of three main parts. There is the pole part that holds the fabric, then finials which cap off the ends of the poles, and the brackets that mount the rod to the wall. Each part can be strictly utilitarian or add a decorative element.
Some curtain poles are adjustable. They are made of two parts that slide into one another so the pole can be lengthened or shortened. This is a good design feature if you decide you want to change the appearance of the width of the window by expanding the window dressing.
Suddenly… Condensation!

Suddenly… Condensation!
by: Mark Meshulam
Every year, usually in January, we (Builders Architectural - a top Chicago-based window contractor) receive phone calls from customers who complain of sudden condensation on their windows.
This condensation can be surprising because of its sudden onset and large volume. Condensation is widely misunderstood but actually it is quite simple.
Think of a glass of cold beer on a muggy summer day when you are outdoors. The glass in your hand is dripping water on its outer surface to such extent you might almost think the liquid is actually leaking through the glass.
Unless you are drinking from a practical joker’s dribble glass, leaking glass is probably not the cause. The real cause is airborne water vapor(a gas) converting to liquid when it cools while contacting the cold glass. The water vapor has cooled to its “dew point” and condensed into a liquid.
This happens on your windows during a winter cold snap in the exactly same way.
Lets say you live in Chicago and so far the winter has been moderate. Your humidifier is set at 35-40% relative humidity(RH). One day the outside temperature drops from +30F to +10F.
Home Loans — Federal Regulators Warn Lenders to Be More Careful
October 30, 2007
Federal banking regulators have recently expressed some concern over the housing market as home prices in the United States have risen to record levels. While homes are more unaffordable than ever for many people, the lending market remains strong, mostly because of the introduction of new, ever-more-flexible types of loans. While these newer loan types, such as the interest-only loan, make buying a home easier for some borrowers, they also propose a greater risk to the lender.
The lending market has been quite aggressive during the last five years, as investors and homebuyers have purchased real estate in record numbers. Buyers who are skittish about investing in stocks have put their money into real estate instead, and prices have climbed to record levels. Lenders have been all too happy to accommodate the long line of customers in their offices with an ever-increasing array of products. With hundreds of loan types available, nearly everyone can qualify for some type of mortgage today. The problem, as regulators point out, is that some of the more popular types of loans are inherently risky. Two such examples are the interest-only loan, and home equity loans that exceed 100% of a home’s value.

If I Had Only Known Then What I Know Now!
by: Mohd Zulfaezal Che Azemin
Hindsight, we all know only too well, is a wonderful thing. For example, if we had only known that the ceiling on membership at a popular site was going to be subscribed so quickly - we would have joined up the minute we heard about it.
If we had only known that niche marketing was going to be so wildly popular we would have focused on that instead of MLM.
If we had only known that Google was going to change its algorithm and the rules of AdWords were going to change we would have…
Stop.
Stop, stop, stop.
In the world of Internet marketing, you can safely bet that the only constant is the rate of change! There’s always news of the latest product dropping into your email inbox. There’s always another promise of quick and easy money. Google will keep changing its algorithm, and new search engines are quite likely to pop up to challenge Google.
What can you do about this? Four main things:
(1) Continue To Educate Yourself.

Using The Sun To Cut Pool Heating Costs

Using The Sun To Cut Pool Heating Costs
by: Rick Chapo
One of the biggest energy expenses for homes is heating the pool. Using the power of the sun can keep you swimming in the middle of winter.
If you have a pool, you know heating it can run your utility bill through the roof. Fortunately, there are a number of practical steps that can be taken to cut costs.
Many people who complain about the cost of heating their pools fail to take common sense steps to cut the bill. One of the unrealized costs is the power required to run the filter circulation system. Spend the money on a high powered pump and you will save money. The more you pump, the less time it will need to be on.
Next, make absolutely sure you use a cover for the pool. Heat escapes through uncovered surfaces. If you’re not using the pool, put a cover on it just like you would a hot tub. Try to add a solar bubble cover, which will create a bit of water heat by letting the sun in. Regardless, using a pool cover will make a major difference in your utility bill. Don’t be lazy! Make sure you keep the cover on the pool.
